Off-Road Racing at Primm at Night

on 21 June 2011

LAS VEGAS, NV – July 18, 2011 – The unusual and spectacular scene of high-speed off-road racing at night will take place at Primm NV on Friday July 29th and Saturday, July 30th. Each evening’s events will kick-off with the first of four heat races starting at 9:00 p.m., followed by three more heats lasting well into the early morning hours.

This two-night event is sponsored by KC HiLites, a pioneer in development and innovation in the field of specialized high output driving lights for rough and severe vehicle lighting demands. The event is sanctioned by SNORE, a Las Vegas based racing organization, and is one of their six races to determine SNORE 2011 champions.

Over 130 entries in 18 classes will compete in one of the four different heats, and overall winners are determined by results of the two evenings racing. In addition to the natural desert terrain, racers must face the extra challenge of darkness combined with dust and limited visibility.

Vehicles competing will range from 130 mile-per-hour Unlimited Trucks and buggies down to older stock VW sedans. Different classes will be grouped in heats according to their projected average speeds for this course at night.

One of the exhilarating parts of the course for the racers will be the famous “Dike Jump”, where racecars at high speed launch off the earthen dike and fly a great distance before landing to continue racing. This is always a great spectator spot, and will be outstanding to view at night.

Spectators are welcome and there is no admission fee either night. Special areas have been set- aside for excellent spectator viewing. The entire course is located behind Buffalo Bill’s in Primm, and there is parking in the area.

SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization founded in 1969 and based in Las Vegas NV. The group sanctions a series of off-road races each year that include both professional and sportsman desert racers. SNORE produces the legendary Mint 400 off-road race that annually draws the elite who’s-who of off-road racing to this Southern Nevada event. Today, SNORE is one of only three major long-distance off-road racing organizations in North America.
